THE FLAT EARTH and the ROUND EARTH

When we think about the landscape of understanding we can reflect upon the earth itself. There were those, who many years ago believed the earth to be flat. One would have to wonder if that was actually everybody or whether there were those who by intuition knew otherwise. Or perhaps those who lived in high mountains who could observe the arc of the earth? At any rate, the perception of the earth as being flat is not a worthless lie, if we are only concerned with our surroundings. In this, what we perceive as ignorance in others is not always ignorance, as their perceptions serve their place and time, their positions.

If we look around us and do not try to overthink what it is we are seeing, the earth is flat. This is because we are limited by the perception of our eyes. And no, we don’t, by nature, account for the miniscule arc of the earth when we look at things. That is something we may do because the earth has been proven to be round, so we have a reference. This being said, the full truth of life requires that we take into account that which is beyond our vision. When we are only concerned about what is in front of us, the earth is flat. It only needs to be flat. Why does it need to be round? We are not circumnavigating it. We are in one spot trying to make the best of it. And our flat roads that lead us to and from familiar places are good enough for our existence.

When we expand our perception, when the stars become relevant, not just shiny objects in the sky,. If we seek a path of discovery, if we seek to understand the influences that lie outside of our little worlds, the earth becomes round. That is, if we are paying attention. If we travel, seek to discover the world as it is and retain our view that the earth is flat because that is what we see around us, we are living a lie. Less of a lie if we are not interested in the expanse of life, but if we consider our self a seeker of truth, then we must accept the earth as round.

The roundness of the earth, the expanse of knowledge and perception, only has true meaning if we are the traveller, the explorer, or perhaps one who is reliant on wide connections beyond in order to survive. And of course, in a world so connected, so reliant on each other, increasingly people must learn to accept the roundness of the earth. And increasingly, our inability to embrace the roundness of the earth, in modern culture, becomes a more profound lie, a greater ignorance, because we all have become so interconnected. In a way, it almost seems like the world is attempting to become flat again. MTEFA.

This metaphor I find very interesting in that one of the great fears some truth seekers have is the fear is that everything is predictable and has a way of repeating itself. Those who become awake and aware have no fear of this reality. The reality is that we are all walking in circles, it is just what circles we walk in. We change circles, evolve into new circles, but circles they are. The process of life is a thing of walking down paths. Things that appear to be flat things headed for somewhere. But the awakening and realization of the totality of life reveals a great big circle, something we cannot begin to perceive until we have travelled enough down our roads. Life and Death are the great circles of all things. And history reveals the great circles of expanse and collapse, much to our dismay when the world “exhales” and reinvents itself with us humans nothing more than pawns in its process.

We have these terms, oh me and my language thing. Our higher self and our lower self. Our lower self sees the flat earth, and to this there is no crime. A flat earth is much more manageable. Our daily travels do not require us to account for the arc of the earth nor what happens when get to the end of the earth only to find out it just starts all over again. But our higher self knows the earth is round. It cannot deny this, and our higher self needs this awareness, as while our lower self may be shocked, even upset about it, our higher self has no issue that everything we do or accomplish will just lead us back to some increasingly familiar circle.

We travel to experience and to know. We circumnavigate things to get a sense of where we sit in the universe, to become familiar with possibilities, the variation of life, as well as the common predictable nature of life. But we return, in a way, to a very flat earth. As we cannot live bound to all things. To all places. To the expanse of all things. Let me rephrase that. We are bound to all things, a part of us, but that which is our true expression cannot nor does it need to, take into account all things, be aware of all things. The earth is indeed round, as is the course of our lives. But our flat view of life serves a purpose. Our most human self travels and lives on a flat world.

Unless, of course, the government has created a giant projector to fool us into thinking the world is round? With a 20 thousand mile wide screen? That rotates as we move? Could be. I say, one hell of a surround sound system. And, an excellent job at disguising the ends of the earth. Bravo!
